Leeds Laces FC recruiting players for first ever season
Leeds Laces FC is recruiting players of all abilities for the 2026/27 season and welcomes women, trans and non-binary people across Leeds to be part of an exciting new chapter in grassroots football as the club launches on Wednesday 1st July.
The club is part of the wider Laces franchise supporting women to play football across the country, with sister clubs in Manchester and London, focusing on inclusivity, community and belonging. We welcome players of all abilities - from complete beginners wanting to try something new to experienced footballers looking for a competitive challenge!
When England's Lionesses lifted the UEFA Women's EURO 2025 trophy in Switzerland last summer, the effect was felt far beyond the pitch. Searches for female football playing opportunities rose by 196% the day after the final (HerFootballHub, 2025) and we at Leeds Laces FC are ready to meet that demand!
The benefits of playing football for women go well beyond the pitch. Regular football builds cardiovascular fitness, muscle strength and bone density, alongside boosting self-esteem and resilience benefits. Most importantly, it connects you to a strong, supportive community of women, trans and non-binary people who share your passion 💜
This is your chance to be here from the start — join Leeds Laces FC this summer and help shape the club's story from the very beginning.
“‘We want Leeds Laces to be more than just playing football. We want it to be a community, a development opportunity, a safe space, a break from the stresses of life… It’s really important to us that this club brings people together, of all abilities, backgrounds and identities, so if this sounds like something you’re looking for, come and join us!’.”

Worried about joining?
At Leeds Laces, we know that joining a new club can feel intimidating, even if that is you returning after time away from the game, you're completely new to football or turning up without knowing anyone- it can be daunting!
That's why we've created a friendly and supportive introduction to help you settle in. Ahead of your first session, we'll share everything you need to know, and when you arrive you'll be welcomed by a member of the team who can help you get your bearings and introduce you to other players!
Our first two free sessions are all about getting comfortable, having fun and finding your feet, with no expectation around experience or ability. We believe football should be accessible to everyone, and we're committed to creating an environment where all women, trans and non-binary people feel they belong from the moment they arrive.
